JOHN M. BIELING Jr.

John M. Bieling Jr. 80, of Westport and husband of the late Carol Digisi Bieling passed away March 30th in Bridgeport Hospital.

Mr. Bieling was born in April 5, 1931 in Norwalk son of the late John and Gertrude (Obrien) Bieling and has been a lifelong resident of Westport, Connecticut. He is a retired restauranteur. He is a graduate of Staples High School and remained an outstanding lifelong supporter of Staples sports. Very active in sports through the years, Junior played football in the early 50’s for the Advertisers, fast pitch semi professional Softball for the Raybestos Cardinals and was inducted into the Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame. Junior was also a member of the Laurel Athletic Club in Norwalk.

Junior is a US Army veteran of the Korean War rising to the rank of Sergeant, received the Silver Star and the Combat Infantry Medal. He is a member of the American Legion Frank C. Godfrey Post 12 and the Joseph J. Clinton VFW Post 399. Junior is also a life member of the Society of the Third Infantry Division.

Survivors include one sister, Catherine B. Fratino of Westport, CT. three brothers, Edward F. Bieling of Fairfield, CT. Gerald T. Bieling of Huntington, CT. Donald J. Bieling of Norwalk, CT. and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends in the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Rd. E., Westport on Monday April 2, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. All are invited to attend the funeral on Tuesday at 10:00 AM meeting directly at Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Ave. Westport for a Mass of Christian Burial.
