Obituary for David F. Ellison

DAVID F. ELLISON

Mr. David F. Ellison, 78, of Westport, CT, and husband of Mariaolga Ellison passed away on Wednesday January 13, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

David was born in Dublin, Ireland on December 1, 1937 and was the son of the late Dr. Charles and Agnes Ellison. He graduated from Dublin University and earned his Masters in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with honors at Cambridge University where he continued award winning research. In 1964 he began a 22 year career with General Electric transferring his family to the United States in 1979. His work in engineering advanced at Macbeth and Hubbell Inc. where he obtained multiple patents. Shortly after retiring, David started up ZDS Inc. His company designed and installed security systems for local businesses, homes, and schools in Fairfield County. In addition to invention, David had a passion for classical music, the arts, his faith, and family.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his siblings; Charles, Mary, Billy, Desmond Ellison of Ireland and Bishop Robert Ellison of Gambia, Africa. His surviving children Sonja Tracey, her husband John, Ruth, and Darren Ellison of Westport and his stepchildren Christopher and Sophia Tsirbas of Stamford and New York. Other survivors include grandchildren; Juliet, Jackson, and Jaden Tracey as well as his first wife Clodagh Bliss.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday January 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Assumption Church 98 Riverside Ave. Westport, CT. Contributions in memory of David in lieu of flowers may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
