Obituary for Irene Ercolani

IRENE M. ERCOLANI

Mrs. Irene M. Ercolani, 80, wife of James G. Ercolani, passed away at her home on Tuesday May 29, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

A life-long resident of Fairfield, Irene was born April 12, 1938 in Bridgeport, CT and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Molnar) Takacs. A graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, Irene worked at Connecticut National Bank as a bookkeeper where she met her loving and devoted husband, James, of nearly 60 years. Together they raised five wonderful children and were actively involved in their parish community.

Irene was a longtime member of St. Thomas Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister, a former CCD Teacher, a RCIA Instructor, a member of the St. Thomas Ladies Guild, and she held the St. Thomas Prayer Group meeting at her home for twenty seven years.

Irene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who embraced life with love and acceptance to all people she met. Her faith and family were her strength and her passion. She loved her church and her prayer group family immensely. A warm, giving and very loving woman, she opened her heart and home to so many over the years. Her spirit and faith were contagious to those around her.

In addition to her husband, Irene is survived by her children and their families: James Ercolani of White Plains, NY; Joseph Ercolani of Fairfield, CT; Melissa Hodges and her husband Jerry of Milford, CT and their children, Riley and Mitchell; Renee Molnar and her husband Chris of Guilford, CT and their children, Emmie and Allie; her brother, Andrew Takacs and his wife Anna of Fairfield, CT. Irene was predeceased by her son, Brian Ercolani. They are united again in eternal life.
